13 Jan: Engaging Community Partners – Make A Wish Foundation

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a locally-driven, community-based organization with 80 chapters around the country and 25,000 volunteers dedicated to their cause. The spirit of these tireless workers is infectious, as any attendee at their annual conference will see. When you are talking about giving kids with life threatening medical conditions their greatest wish, it is not difficult to get energized.

10 Jan: Connecting to Local Officials – Environmental Defense Fund

In 2007, we were retained by the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) to distribute two different PSAs dedicated to the same issue – global warming. EDF’s mission is to use science and economics to find practical and lasting solutions to the most serious environmental problems facing our country. EDF’s work spans the biosphere: climate, oceans, ecosystems and health. Since these topics are intertwined, EDF’s solutions take a multidisciplinary approach, working in concert with other organizations — business, government and communities.

Trying to demonstrate the relationship between public service advertising and public awareness is very difficult, and it is rare that any organization pursues it. First, there are so many mass communications initiatives that can and do contribute to public perceptions towards any given social issue. Secondly, in order to track changes in attitudes, typically you must employ baseline research and tracking studies to measure change over time, which can be costly.

26 Dec: Saving Childrens Lives – Consumer Product Safety Commission – Pool Safety

What if you could take a few simple steps to protect your children from hidden dangers in and around your home, would you do it? It is a rhetorical question, because what parent would not do whatever they had to do to protect the lives and safety of their most treasured possessions? Yet, the fact is, many parents do not do basic things to ensure their children are not endangered in their own home, including drowning in pools or being badly injured by furniture toppling over on their youngsters.

24 Dec: Generating More Value – BrightFocus Foundation

As the sub-contractor to a video producer, we worked with the American Health Assistance Foundation for years, distributing PSAs pertaining to eye health, Alzheimer’s, heart disease and stem cell research. The creative for the PSAs was reasonably well crafted, and we distributed them in the normal fashion.
