Avoiding Vision Loss

Avoiding Vision Loss

BrightFocus is a non-profit organization that supports research and provides public education on eye and brain diseases, Alzheimer’s disease, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. We also provide free educational materials to people affected by or interested in these diseases, empowering them to take action for themselves and others.

The Foundation is distributing a PSA, titled: “Make a Plan Today: Get Your Eyes Checked,” because many people are unaware they have a vision problem until irreversible damage has occurred. For example, an estimated half of the three million Americans with glaucoma don’t even know they have the disease.

Getting an eye exam on a regular basis is critically important, particularly important for Baby Boomers, who are now at increased risk as they age. The PSA depicts the impact of vision loss through real people sharing how vision disease has affected them personally. The spot urges viewers to get their eyes checked, and to visit www.BrightFocus.org to learn more about vision disease including “The Top Five Questions to Ask Your Eye Doctor.”
